Welcome! The BYUI Support Agent is your 24/7 AI-powered assistant for quick answers to campus support questions. This guide will walk you through every step of using the chat interface confidently.
Accessing the Support Agent
- Visit https://supportagent.byui.edu/ in your web browser
- Login with your Church username and password
- You’ll land on the Support Agent home page, where you can start your support conversation.
Starting a Conversation
- Greeting: The agent greets you and displays a message such as: “Howdy! I’m the Support Agent. Ask me anything.”
- Message Input: At the bottom of the chat panel, click into the textbox labeled “Type your message…”.
- Send Your Message: Enter your question or support request (e.g., “How do I reset my BYUI password?”), then press Enter or click the send icon/button.
Using Chat Features
| Feature | How to Use |
|---|---|
| See Tools | Type / (forward slash) to display available agent tools. |
| Toggle Theme | Look for the “Toggle Theme” button or icon to switch between light and dark modes, for a comfortable viewing experience. |
| Copy Response | When a response appears, click the “Copy” button to copy the full message to your clipboard for easy sharing or reference. |
| Rate Response | To provide feedback on the agent's answer, click the star button on the response you receive. This helps improve future support. |
| Clear Memory | Use the “Clear Memory” button to delete your conversation history during your chat and start fresh. |
Best Practices for Getting Help
- Be Specific: The more details you give, the better the answer (e.g., “I can’t log into my email” vs. “I forgot my BYUI email password”).
- Explore Follow-ups: After the agent responds, you can ask for clarification or a related question without starting over.
- Escalating Issues: For complex or account-sensitive issues (like forgotten security answers), the agent will suggest next steps—such as contacting the BYUI Support Center.
Important Notices
- Beta Disclaimer: The system is in Beta, so answers may not always be perfect. Always verify critical information if unsure.
- Data Privacy: No personal data is stored between sessions. Use the “Clear Memory” button to delete your conversation history during your chat only.
Troubleshooting and Tips
- No Response? Ensure you have a stable internet connection and refresh the page if you experience issues.
- Getting Stuck: Click the three dots in the top right corner of the chat interface and select "Clear Memory", then refresh the page.
